Upon our return from recess next month, my Westminster colleague Stewart McDonald, SNP MP for Glasgow South, is planning to support the campaign highlighting Vauxhall’s inadequate response to the hundreds of Zafiras, and other Vauxhall models, going on fire.
Although there are as yet no confirmed injuries, it has been incredibly distressing for many families who use these cars who are cancelling summer holidays and incurring other huge personal expense.
Vauxhall knew of the issue as far back as 2009, and are responding wholly inadequately – even so far refusing to compensate some owners whose cars have caught fire.
Stewart is currently running an online survey on the issue, which has so far received over 500 responses, and I would be grateful if any of my constituents who have a little spare time could contribute.
The details and the survey itself can be found at: http://www.stewartmcdonald.scot/news/issues/vauxhall-zafira-fires/
