Brexit Vote: Marion as Teller

2nd February 2017

Today I have received enquiries as to why my name does not feature on the Hansard Record as voting against Brexit, yesterday evening.

The reason why this was the case is due to the fact that I was requested as a Whip to act as a Teller during the vote.

This meant that I did not have a right to vote on the motion before the House – nor did my colleagues who acted as Tellers – in effect cancelling out each other’s intended preference.

I hope this update is useful and I assure my constituents that my position on Brexit is clear – Scotland voted Remain and that’s exactly what I will continue to champion.
