SPFL Trust’s Trusted Trophy Tour

13th April 2017

I was delighted to attend the The SPFL Trust’s Trusted Trophy Tour’s Fir Park stop yesterday afternoon.

The SPFL Trust is an independent registered charity associated with the Scottish Professional Football League, working in partnership with Scotland’s 42 professional clubs and external agencies to promote, support, fund and administer activities which inspire SPFL clubs to help meet the identified social needs of the people of Scotland.

The Trusted Trophy Tour will visit all 42 Scottish professional football clubs in order to celebrate the community work of each, and yesterday it was the turn of Motherwell FC – and in particular the Motherwell FC Community Trust, who were on hand to showcase the truly excellent work they do in our local area.

The Community Trust aims to use the power of football and the brand name of Motherwell Football Club to motivate and inspire people and communities to change their lives for the better. The Trust operates across Lanarkshire and works with people and communities of all ages living within areas of multiple deprivation or those affected by issues such as poor physical and mental health, unemployment, poor attainment, low engagement with physical activity and community safety.

You certainly don’t need to be a fan of Motherwell – or even football in general – to recognise the wonderful and valuable work the club’s Community Trust does for our local communities!
