Big Lottery Scotland are hosting a funding event at Wishaw Sports Centre on Saturday 7th October.
Voluntary and community groups in the Wishaw area have the chance to get a share of £20,000 from Big Lottery Fund in a unique way that involves local people in the decision making.
Groups can apply for between £300 and £2,000 to do something that brings people together and/or improves the local area.
The money can be used to do more of something that a group currently does or to do something totally new. It can be a one-off event like a gala day or community Christmas event or something that will be delivered over a longer time such as a lunch club, fitness classes or developing a community garden. The main criteria is that local people are involved in developing and delivering the activity.
If groups are interested in accessing this funding the first stage is to complete a short application form which they can get by contacting the Big Lottery Fund Lanarkshire team Lanarkshire@biglotteryfund.org.uk
Applications need to be completed by Monday 4 September and shortlisted groups will be asked to do a short (max 5 minutes) “pitch” at an event in Wishaw on 7 October. Groups will get help to prepare and practice this in advance. The event will be open to the wider community and give people a chance to find out what’s going on in and around Wishaw, hear about and make connections with groups and everyone attending the event will get to vote on where the funding should go.
To be eligible for this opportunity groups must:
• have a bank account and a constitution
• have at least two unrelated people on the board
• NOT have a current Awards for All grant
