PM summons cabinet for Syria talks

FULL STORY: PM summons cabinet for Syria talks

It is extremely worrying that bombs can be dropped by the UK without even a discussion in Parliament. This is not democratic. Anything of such magnitude must be decided by Parliament – and Parliament must oppose it.

The Prime Minister must not join Trump’s haphazard wars which seem to be more about ego than foreign policy.

Air strikes have not brought the Syrian War to an end and dropping even more bombs will not help. It will only cost more lives, further destabilise the region and incur large financial costs.

Instead, we need to block the Syrian government’s purchasing and importing abilities, place further sanctions against personnel and companies involved, and increase efforts to document those involved in chemical warfare infrastructure to support war crimes prosecutions.

We need to invest in our society – not war.
