Coltness High: CERN Visit

1st March 2019

This afternoon, I spent a thoroughly interesting and worthwhile hour at Coltness High, meeting a group of Higher Physics pupils & their teachers to discuss their recent trip to CERN in Switzerland.

It was, of course, an informative discussion but it was also a joy to see and hear just how beneficial it was for them to have been given the opportunity to spend two days learning more about particle physics and speaking to those that work in Geneva.

It is very important that we continue to make sure our young people have access to opportunities like this: such a trip is not just educational but also provides awareness of the career paths that are available to our pupils & the kinds of contributions they can give to the world – as the pupils told me themselves, their trip was “inspirational”.
