Independence Must Be Reconsidered

12th March 2019

Tonight, I will be voting against the UK Government’s deal because, simply, it does not respect Scotland’s will, it does not protect our economy, it does not support our communities.

It is looking more and more likely that the UK government’s deal will not pass as the far right of the Tories and the DUP hold the Prime Minister to ransom. This is pushing us closer to a no deal Brexit which will be catastrophic for Scotland and the rest of the UK.

There must be an extension of Article 50 and a no deal situation must be ruled out. But this is still uncertain. This is the reality of the UK Parliament. The risks that Westminster is imposing on us against our will will damage Scotland greatly.

If the UK continues to remove the rights that Scots enjoy and benefit from, independence must be reconsidered by the people of Scotland.
