The increase in foodbank use in Motherwell and Wishaw show just how many local peoples’ lives have been impacted by the Tories’ austerity regime which is attacking vulnerable people and families.
We as a society are able to look after all in our communities and it is unacceptable that people are being denied the most basic rights and are forced to use foodbanks in the name of saving money while the rich get richer.
As the roll out of Universal Credit continues, I expect more and more people to have to turn to foodbanks.
It’s not only Universal Credit, but the Tories’ sanction regime, two child cap and rape clause, and auditors tampering with disability reports.
People in Motherwell, Wishaw, Bellshill and across Scotland deserve so much better than what the Tories are inflicting on local communities.
