Following my letter to the Home Secretary, Priti Patel, I have received confirmation from the Ministers at the Home Office that the contract with Post Office Ltd to provide Biometric collections will be extended by an extra year to 31 July 2020.
The contract has been worth £10.2m since 2012. At a time when Postmasters are threatening to resign on mass, Post Office Ltd must make sure this money reaches the people working on the frontline of the network serving our communities.
This is just one contract of many the UK Government has with Post Office Ltd. Some of which are expiring soon also. Our much-valued Post Office must be a public procurement priority.
