On Tuesday, Marion was at Westminster attending meetings, briefings, and, as shown above, showing Fir Park School pupils round the Parliament.
Marion was also keen to join other Parliamentarians and staff outside Westminster to commemorate those who were killed in the Orlando shootings.

On Thursday, Marion was delighted to speak at the NL International Conference at the Glo Centre in Motherwell. Schools from all other North Lanarkshire gathered to debate topics including Syria and the refugee crisis. It was a fantastic event with some passionate speeches – definitely a few people to look out for in the political future – and some great music from pipers and the toe tapping St Aidan’s High School Samba Band!
Later in the day, Marion also visited Carfin Grotto where Aid to the Church in Need were hosting 1,200 schoolchildren from all over Scotland. Despite the weather, they remained upbeat and enjoyed the day with a choir and music provided by Taylor High School.
Thursday was also the day on which Jo Cox, MP for Batley and Spen, was senselessly attacked and killed while carrying out work for her constituents. The thoughts of Marion and her constituency office staff are with Jo’s husband, children, family and friends in the wake of such a shocking tragedy.

Marion and Clare Adamson MSP were in attendance at the Beechwood Care Home to mark National Care Home Open Day on Friday.
Everyday in care homes across the country staff show kindness to our loved ones, share laughs and stories with residents and provide fun activities. These successes should be celebrated and encouraged, particularly during such times of austerity and when we have an ageing population living longer than ever.
Marion also spent some time at the Motherwell ASDA meeting local people, answering questions, and offering assistance. As well as Marion’s regular monthly surgeries, the Motherwell and Wishaw MP strives to be accessible to constituents as much as possible, including recent “pop-up surgeries” at supermarkets, Central Mosque Lanarkshire, New College Lanarkshire, and Motherwell Baptist Church.
Friday also provided Marion the opportunity to meet with staff and volunteers at the Citizens Advice Bureau in Motherwell.
Marion is extremely concerned at a potential 50% cut in core funding to Motherwell & Wishaw Citizens Advice Bureau with removal of their debt advice service. In addition further cuts could see the closure of Wishaw CAB. This free, independent and impartial advice is vital to help the most vulnerable members of our community who will yet again be hit the hardest.

On Saturday, it was all about preparation as Marion and her team mates got ready for the St Andrews Hospice Ladies Midnight Walk. Before long, it Saturday turned to Sunday and it was time to head off…
