Lanarkshire MP nominated unopposed to contest next General Election for SNP

Daily Record

I am more motivated than ever to help families and local businesses as the cost of living and unprecedented inflation continues to bite hard into family budgets. I’m honoured to again be selected unopposed to stand up for a Lanarkshire constituency for the SNP, the only party that can take Scotland forward.

I have seen how disastrous Tory policies have impacted the lives of my constituents and I have been proud to be able to assist local people thanks to the brilliant support and knowledge of my caseworkers. We have helped people from all walks of life, and as we face even greater challenges, I am more motivated than ever.

I will fight for access to cash locally, and that means Post Office bosses keeping branches open rather than paying themselves unacceptable bonuses. I will stand up for disability, welfare and employment rights, and fight the cause of the many great charities and other volunteer groups that make such a huge difference in the local area. I will also stand up for local businesses amid the unprecedented challenges they have faced through Covid and sky-high inflation.

I’m looking forward to meeting people in Carluke and the other areas that form part of the new constituency. There is more work to be done, and I am determined to create a brighter and better future for our community.
